I just bought a novarossi btt with 2012 carb. Came from OS background I have no idea how to tune this engine. I followed break in bible and purchased comp heat blanket. Pre heat engine for 20 mins, set everything on factory tune 5 out LSN and 3.5 out HSN. Problem is, I could not keep the engine idle without the glowplug staying attached, as soon as I undo the glowplug heater, the engine would always die. the engine is easy to start but flame out very easily too...Tried running it with the glowplug heater attached and I could see smoke trail, not much tho. Running stockplug that came with the engine, couldn't remember the exact number but it's got 6 on it.
Any advices ??
Thanks in advance.
The 3.5 out from closed on the LSN is to lean for break in. Also, get your self an OD 97T plug fro break in and only use it for the first gallon. You don't want to break in with a $11 glow plug. after the first gallon put your #6 Nova plug back in. Also open your idle gap a little since your LSN is so rich for break in. Make sure your 190 to 210 for the entire tank of fuel during break in and the same for start up. 20 minutes should be enough for the Comp heater to get it up to temp but double check before you start it. Take the break in nice and easy and get at least a gallon before you start to try to race tune. My plus 4 took 2 gallons to break in fully. Once its broke in and the tune is close you will have a great smooth, reliable motor.
On a side note, always use you comp heater before start up, it will extend the life of your motor.
