40W is not enough. 60W or more.

Personally think i would have been able to do it with a tiny torch.
Heat it and quickly add tin. done. I also need a bunch of gripers.

I envy octopuses..
40W is plenty. I use an 18w for most soldering. I like the 60 watt to de-solder. I find the 60w gets too hot, the solder moves to fast and just seems harder.

Have somebody decent show you how to do it. After I watched my friend give me a quick lesson it seemed much easier.
