Found out why fast:
"You're not crazy, Ty did that himself. He chopped off the sides, did some dremel work, and re-epoxied the sides to the narrowed chassis. Pretty slick if you ask me. He could possibly be running a proline 22 body on there, as well, to compensate for the narrower profile."
Yeah, it is great that he hacked off a lot of the structural integrety of the car, only to re-epoxy some side on for looks. On top of that, it's a truck chassis.

It is definitely not magic....
