Your correct, I own a couple AMB PT's myself. But I am thinking of having handouts, or rental transponders.

You spend more on tires, rims, and foams to get competitive, and even more for a new body and paint.

I would buy those transponders if my local track had the system, to support my local track.
Looking at the trackmate system and the transponder are only $25.00
