the sc10 4x4 can be geared correctly all day long and still have temp issues. the motor is in an area that does not get enough airflow. its that simple.
thats why many have done the fan mod.
admittedly like ive said before iam a heat freak, i dont want to burn up a motor so i look for the best ways possible to keep what i have cool.
im gonna drop a tooth from what i was running with the fan and try again tomorrow. cross fingers , lol.
gotta ask dude... what exactly do you think is hot...? I had been running my lrp x12L 4.5 geared properly and it would be 210 consistently which is perfect for those motors. Dont, believe me...? call LRP and they will tell you that 220 is the worry point for the x12 motors since they have such little ventilation. Ran that motor for over a year with NO, I repeat, NO problems EVER!!! would pull it apart every other weekend to look it over and it was perfect!! only reason I dont run it now is because I am running my Reedy 4.5 550 that was given to me about a month before they were even released. Love my LRP motors though, just like the power and smoothness of my Reedy sonic motors.
