First time asking for help on this thread
Should've been on here sooner, learning what I can.
I got into RC June of last year w/ a Losi 810, and by late July I was racing an 8 2.0 that I bought barely used w/ a Nova 21-4C. The engine was still in the breakin phase. I finished the breakin and raced it 'til October w/ absolutely NO issues. Stored it in my garage w/ afterrun oil in it until last month. It ran ok the first raceday w/ the C5TGC Nova plug that was still in it from October. I switched to a C6TGC because the ambient temp was about 100F w/ high humidity, started stalling in the main but chalked that up to a blown set of clutch bearings. I ordered some Nova C7TGCs and put one in prior to Saturday's (7/7/12) raceday because it was again about 100F here in east TN. After about 5 minutes of racing, the stalling began.... always after a full throttle high speed section or a full throttle big jump after letting off the gas/returning to idle. All this after a complete teardown and rebuild w/ all new bearings thru the whole car and a new prebuilt clutch and bell. Switched pipes from a JP-3 to an Ofna polished 086 in hopes of getting longer runtimes.
After reading thru some of this thread it looks like Nova's recommended plug for hot days is incorrect? Should I really be running a C5 in 100F temps? Or should I look into air leaks or a bad front bearing in my engine?
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. I am already getting tired of the O.S. drivers saying "Novas are known for flaming out after they get hot" or "after 2 gallons a Nova gets weird".
Thanks,
JJ
