So, for mechanical brakes, we designed a completely new system.
There is NO need for a long shank pinion for any reason on this buggy.
The brake pads and levers are on the left side of the diff mounted vertically, the discs slip in on either side of the diff. There are no clearance issues, we made sure of that during design and testing. You can't see unless you take it apart, but there is a big cutout on the motor mount insert for front disc clearance, it's pretty slick.
You can flip the diff 180 so the gear is in back, but that doesn't affect the brakes. You flip the diff for Traktion Drive or Elektri-Clutch use. So you can use mechanical brakes with standard pinion, TD, or EC. The motor stays in the same position for all options.
