It's not representative of a typical race, but it is representative of the Banger class which is a pretty good copy of full size banger racing, a small oval and lots of cars on track at once. I just chose it to illustrate why these cars are built to be pretty indestructible.
The top drivers in the banger class actually do attempt keep their racing clean, after all the one with the most laps wins. It's just the nature of the small track and lots of cars makes contact inevitable. Due to the car design the only damage is to the ABS bodies used, and replacements only cost £6. There are a lot of people who enjoy the class.
If you think that's bad, you should see the actual demolition derby class.

Yup, now that is more like it. They were getting around that track at a good clip. Competitive, simple, durable cars are never a bad thing in my book.
