Kyosho released their metal gears. I'm not sure what the benefit of them is over the standard plastic, but seems to be out there as an option now for some brands
kyosho gears don't fit either, the sun gear is too big in diameter.
The plastic gears are fine, if people are stripping them it's because the mesh is wrong or the shims are collapsing.
