Question for anyone using 3Racing fast gear sets: I'm putting together an "outlaw" M03 for a race we have coming up and I'm having troubles with gear mesh.

I'm using the smaller of the two spur gears, the one that works with 20, 22, and 24 tooth pinions. I'm also using a 22 tooth pinion. One would think that since the stock pinions are 16, 18, and 20 teeth, the 20, 22 and 24 pinions would fall into line with this and you'd use the 18 tooth position for the 22 tooth pinion...BUT...the gear mesh is stupid tight at the 18 holes, really loose at the 16 holes and kind of overly tight, but not totally insane at the 20 tooth holes.

So, am I totally nuts or is this gear set complete crap? The run out on the gears is abysmal compared to Tamiya parts, but is it really that bad?
