Other than the tips already mentioned, drag break setting and blipping the throttle, double check your pinion to spur free play. If you get hit hard in the back of a 2wd buggy it might push the motor up causing it to bind up, especially off power. Also might want to make sure with the pinion off or away from the spur that the tranny spins freely. If not make sure the screws holding the transmission together are just snug. They cause binding if over tightened.
