Yes, the 8.2 chassis is 3mm longer.

I'm actually one of dumb ones who has replaced each part instead of building a new kit. The only thing I haven't changed yet are the lightened ring gears & the front lightened diff outdrives & the motor mount. I ran mine yesterday @ SDRC, car ran great, had awesome steering & it was stable but I didn't have a good set up on it, but I still finished 2nd .
