Hard to tell exactly without having the engine in hand. However the engine appears to be one of the first gen Novarossi 528X engines. Very powerful engine, with tons of torque and speed. You can obtain the manual from RCdocuments.com, go to Novarossi and there's a PDF you can download for the engine.

As far as the JB Weld...it's anyone's guess but I suspect the case mightve been cracked in that location. I agree with you, fuel it up and rip it.
