I noticed the same problem! I was starting to think that I was hallucinating. "Active braking" seems really useful (something I've been wanting for a long time). My Hotwire install showed it at first, but now it's gone! I think it's a bug in the software, because I have a clean install and it showed up initially but disappeared soon after I changed a few parameters.
