I believe it was 1978, and it was an MRC Toyota of some sort - this was WAY before ESC's. Everything was insanely archaic but we had fun because the technology available at the time was the only thing we knew about so it worked.
Years later mid 1980's, I moved on to a Kyosho Wildcat, huge fun, then a Kyosho Optima, more huge fun and on and on and on . . .
