For carpet rubber tire, clean off tires with automotive brake cleaner, then dope tires 5-10min before race. Generally, I dope full rears and inside half of fronts. Wipe tires clean with a rag before hitting the track. The rag is cleaner and more consistent and predictable than the burn out mat.
