do you have a pic of this mod? Is the gold washer glued on the spindle where it hits the c hub?

I agree with earlier assessments. If you grab your front wheel and turn it, you will notice that there is play on the inside wheel (generally quite significant). This play is what causes the CVD's to chatter. If you put the gold washer on the spindle, that play will be removed and you shouldn't get the chatter anymore.
