OK, now I have discovered the slipper problems. Rebar tires and a pro4 4600. Major slippage and high motor temps. I put 2 HD pads and bottomed out the spring. And put the pin back in the top shaft. The truck was running better, speeds, and temps pretty good. Then....something inside the rear tranny went south. About to tear it down but I bet its the idler gear. So, I have two questions:
1) with the center diff / basket / maxipads - when we limit the tranny's ability to slip a bit, is the internal damage going to be greater? One purpose of the slipper is to absorb some of the forces, right?
2) assuming I need to buy something non-stock to "fix" the slipper assembly, which direction should I go? -center ball diff or garodisk or clutch basket????
Thanks!
