I had some self adhesive Day-Glo Red sign vinyl that used to mark the positive lead. I cut it into squares and then cut a 1/4 circle out of one corner.
I use nail polish to mark the positive ends on the bullet-type batteries. It just doesn't come off and it saves me batteries and possibly an esc.
