That being said, I am talking to Viper at the moment to see if there is a way to do it. Switching wires on a sensored ESC will do nothing but burn up equipment.

There are two problems when doing this.

(1) - The default mechanical timing in the motor is 30 degrees. Reverse the motor, you will have 30 degrees of negative timing when reversed

(2) - In the reality of how the mechanics work, irregardless of how it is configured (rear or mid motor), you want the pinion gear to be "pulling down" on the spur gear. If all you do is reverse the transmission in the car, without adding a 4th gear, and just reversing the motor, you will now have the pinion gear "pulling up" on the spur, which will greatly reduce your traction.

Mid-Motor cars have been around a long time before the 22 came out. We used to build 1st generation RC10's into mid-motor cars for dirt oval racing. In mod class you could just swap it, reverse the motor and off you went. But you had a car with allot of steering and no rear traction.

We eventually figured a way to install the motor plate on the other side of the transmission and ran the motor in regular rotation. You had a "Mid-Motor" car, the motor was in the same spot, but you had ALLOT more grip.

It is the very reason that a 2wd Buggy has a 3 gear transmission. 2 gear transmissions were tested and tried over and over back in the day. They failed because they required rotating the motor, which in turn made the pinion gear "pull up" the spur. They made the cars very loose.

The DEX210 is a really cool design with allot of potential. The concept of having 4 motor layouts is innovative, but redundant. You really have a car that has 2 useable configurations, and 2 un-usable configurations.
Thank you for answering.

I was planning on running rear motor 4 gear on the DEX because like you say, it decreases rear grip slightly with the way the motor rotates away from the ground. The car has so much rear grip out of the box that a little less rear grip wouldn't hurt. I know there are other ways of going about it, but driving a friend's DEX with the rear 4 gear on our local track is what made me want to try it.

I ran XFactory cars last time I was running 10th scale. I was hoping I would be able to make the DEX handle correctly in MM configuration, but I just couldn't get it to have consistent traction in mid motor build.

Either way, I am very happy with the quality and performance of the Viper electronics. I just started playing with the proguage to alter some of the default settings and try different profiles. Very easy to navigate and use. I noticed that the VTX10 was originally a 1s-4s esc but then switched to a 1s-2s only. Are there plans for a 4s controller in the future? I would love to get rid of my MMP in my E-buggy.
