Pitting is definitely from detonation, tighter head clearance can make a engine more prone to detonating, but usually only because the fuel demands were not met for the tighter head clearance....I have run engines extremely tight without any signs of pitting...but I also know how to tune, run great fuels, and cool glowplugs............ In the end a great deal of performance can be found by adjusting the head clearance, but it is not something to me messing with if your new to nitro....not unless of course your willing to learn at the cost of possibly damaging a engine if you make a mistake.....
ok will this is something im willing to learn fuel which would be 30 odennel, and i would need a cold glow plug, im pretty good at turning my cars, the listening part would be a little hard for me since im hearing imparied so i pay attetion to my vision more than any thing and i know how to read a glow plug and look for sign of wear. If i can can build a car we still have the same 3 function suck bang and blow. I konw that when the head shim is changed i figure that is just like a car head gasket which up the comprison. which then i would have to open the exhuast too. so is that the same principle here. and if that hard do you guy do this step to you mod engiens.would you conseder od to be a good fuel.
