You don't want to make it out of aluminum. It needs to be sort of flexable in expansion/tight in compression. The hollow carbon tube works best.

If you make it rock solid and hit something hard (like come up short on a triple) you're going to likely tear out the rear mount or sheer off the front screw, at a minimum.
