Id have to say, if you are confident you will be racing a while, dont get an RTR kit, but pick up a base model car (Xray non-factory car/TC3 Racer kit) W/o electrics, and get some top of the line used stuff ....Quantum ESC/M8 radio....
That way your car will be up to running beyond a novice class, and if you'd like to upgrade you wont have to ditch the sub par esc/ AM controlers that come with RTR's - you can use your own stuff.
Also the resale value is much better on top grade stuff if you decide not to do it, and need to sell off
