Had the diffs apart tried adding one shim to each outdrive before i put it through the bearings to make them a little less sloppy. Once i put all back together, in the housing, and put the tower on, everything was bound up. Had to take them back out. Its like the diff just barely fits in the case and i guess one more shim on each side was too much.......so all my outdrives still are sloppy as heak

You should add the shim to the outside of the outdrive and not the inside. The inside will change the gear mesh and make the diff gears too tight. I use 2 on the outside and one on the inside.
