Yes this is something we used to do back in the 90's and the TLR come with a machined crosshatch finish. When rebuilding my TLR diffs I just rub them on some fine wet and dry one way then rotate them...

It's good if you need more grip and I have used it on the 4.0 on wet slippery astro but I prefer keeping them on the front and adding the 25g rear weight as it keeps the weight within the wheelbase.

No experience of the 2.0 only the 3.0 and 4.0 (I belI've they are v.similar) but you want to space the servo so the link from the servo horn to the steering linkage is at 90' across the chassis.
