I want to know more about the regional variants of the Pro. Is it just the radio or is the receiver region specific too? Is it legal to use a UK one in USA etc? If not, that'll make it a non-starter...

Android wouldn't make a great platform for a radio that needs to be extremely low latency. It's not a real-time operating system.

A couple points to note:

If those new packs are LiHV and your current issue are LiPo they might not actually have more capacity. The rated capacity of a LiHV only applies when charging to LiHV...

I don't know what you're doing to strip the battery posts, you only need to tighten the screws until they stop. But if you really want an alternative, use the carbon/aluminium option, XP-10654.

When I dispose of LiPos I put a nail through it to ignite it in a controlled fashion, so it doesn't ignite in the trash (we don't have readily accessible recycling centres). If they're at storage...

No you can't. A drill bit is conductive, it'll short the cells when you puncture it. LiFe are safer than LiPo but they will still ignite.

I'm not quite sure what this offers vs my Arduino based board except for improved timer resolution, but at 0.5us that's still only a 0.03% margin of error. Mine reports at around 1000fps.

What...

The ESC settings you're mentioning are probably just the low voltage cutoff for lipos, if so that won't harm the NiMH. There's really only two ways to resolve the amp problem. Use a slower motor that...

I've found that shorty packs usually have slightly higher IR and it's possible to get lower CoG with a standard LGC vs an equivalent capacity shorty.

Voltage sag mostly depends on how much current you're pulling, but from experience it's typically around 0.2V-0.4V per cell.

The ESC amp rating won't contribute to this, but the motor will definitely impact how much current is drawn from the battery. NiMH can't deliver anywhere near as much current as lipos can.

You shouldn't be doing that either. You should only ever connect an actual active discharging circuit to a LiPo with LVC.
