New drivers just simply and innocently don't know track etiquette. Teach them ahead of time so they don't have to learn on the stand when tensions are high.

That sums it up. Also SCT is more forgiving when bumping and rubbing. Open wheel has zero tolerance for it as you may have found out if you touched tires with another buggy.
