This isn't the case everywhere though. For instance, at Mikes, my local track, often times worn out semi-slicks are the fastest tires while brand new ones are not, hell, you can run full blown slicks...

They are a very tiny amount longer due to the molds and cooling rates of the materials.. They run that setting for tuning purposes instead of compensating for for longer arms...
