The team drivers seem to run it with one screw in the second hole back, and a grub screw at the rear to stop it moving around, so it's only held in by the one screw.

For those of us running Mod, the size of the spur gear means the motor mount etc has to be loosened up t allow the spur to slide off.
But I don't touch the diffs either

You'd be better off cutting off the excess motor shaft.
Adding spacers moves more weight away from the centre line.

If you do cut the motor shaft remember to wrap the rotor in tape etc to stop...

Depends how good your drivers are at ensuring there are no screws sticking out underneath their chassis.
Last club I was at it lasted around 4yrs,
As it's quite thin it has to rolled up carefully...
