I do wish him all the best, and I hope he succeeds where others have failed.

Those who have fallen by the way, did so because having a good product is maybe only 25% of the challenge. Supporting...

Not FT8 specific but general frontie stuff to fix an oversteering car in low grip:
Thicker diff - you need big steps in diff oil in frontie. E.g. go from 200k to 2M.
More weight on the front....

Agree about the wide setup window. Here in the UK I'd change the diff; 4, 5 or 7k depending on grip and track layout. Camber link shims. And flex (add/remove screws). That's about it.

I only put mine on a setup station if I've had a roll or hit a barrier. In those situations, angles can change, but that's true of all the modern TCs. Definitely not needed every run.

Sad news indeed. I used his Rollcentre Calculator before it became RC Crew Chief.

Bob was a very smart and helpful guy, two things that don't always go together.

If you're using a carbon chassis, I'd also use aluminium screws for the lower arm balls. I've seen steel screws pulled through the chassis in a crash. With aluminium, the screw will snap first in a...

Probably just spares of the various plastic parts then. Corners tend to pop off in an impact, which stretches the plastic parts. They can be popped back on, but will come off much easier next time.

Depends on your driving skill and what type of track you're racing on.

For a good driver on a European style outdoor track, zero spares required. The car is strong and durable.

Average driver...

Seems like this is indeed an issue; new parts released today with a little post to go in the bumper. Not entirely sure how it works, I'm guessing the bumper will float around the post, preventing it...

It is something that happens unfortunately. Most drivers leave the middle bumper screw out, it gives a chance for the two outer screws (which are only into plastic) to rip out of the bumper rather...

At first I thought the oil was leaking around the o-ring. I tried different o-rings and even Dow55 o-ring grease, but it didn't help.

So I then did a simple test, putting a freshly built damper on...

I did look at the P45 when trying to find a solution to the leaks.. I haven't seen a P45 in the flesh but it looks like an open-cell foam to me.

This diagram sums most of it up. A few more notes:

The materials are important.
The compensator needs to be closed-cell neoprene.
'Closed cell' means it has lots of tiny closed air cells that...

The Yokomo cups have a lot more slop than the AMX ones, even when brand new. I can't say that has a huge effect on handling, but setting toe and camber with all that slop is a pain and I didn't like...

I tried the Yokomo cups, they have a lot of slop, they're far too big for the AMX 4.8mm balls.
I also tried various 3racing 4.8mm rod-ends, again too much slop.

Best slop-free option seems to be...

Your spring settings are very soft in the rear, and hard at the front, so I'd expect it to understeer a lot mid-to-exit. Try adjusting so that you're around 105gf/mm rear and 75gf/mm front.

I've tried the 32X and the 32M.

32X had great grip for one run only, huge dropoff to second run. That's modified on cool track temps (15-20deg).
32M much better. Slower on the first run, but much...
