That battery will work fine. As was said already, monitor your motor temps, gear down if needed. A 6 cell nimh will have more voltage initially but will drop out fast compared to a lipo.

The xp2 ssi transmitter does have steering epa, it's located at the top of the pistol grip, easily bumped with your thumb. Use this to set endpoints, keep your servo from overthrowing and burning up.
