I would not use a battery showing visible puff. Puffed batteries generally show a high internal resistance; a high ir generates heat; heat finishes off the puffing, sometimes spectacularly.

Drag Brake is an ESC side setting not a radio based one. If you want that to emulate a brushed motor, start at 10%, if you want the car to coast longer going into a corner, use less.

Have you tried multiple batteries in the car or just one?
