There is nothing wrong with the mip set. The associated and mip sets both use set screws along with retainer clips. Sounds like you had a cvd that they missed the thread for the set screw or...

I believe both are made my MIP. The only difference i can see is the MIP kit uses plastic retaining rings and the AE cvd's have a steel clip. Both work well.
