If you find a small enough screw you can probably make it fit. Maybe post pics so we have a better idea of what we're dealing with here

I think its the oil weight you chose, 80wt is pretty thick for savage shocks. You may want to try something thinner. And before you do that take the oil out and make sure the piston moves up and down...
