one drop of the blue is more than enough. the nice thing about the blue is you can remove screws/bolts and reuse them with normal tools.

Strange I've never had a problem with an RRP gear. You may well be right and if you only put the goo on the top couple threads it might not have locked in. It'll probably never happen to you again!...

Only reason I was asking what material the pinion was made of was that I have seen the threads pull on the aluminum gears if they are over tightend, that's all. Don't take offense that I'm asking...
