Yes a 5-40 x 7/8" set screw is the correct length and if I remember correctly was the same size used in the 1.0. The one in my 2.0 is black if that helps.
Is it perhaps in another bag by mistake?

I think it's a non issue as any aeration shock will do this. There is always going to be a little suction at full extension.
Your oil/piston package is what absorbs the jump landings and bottoming...

Closed cell f&r in 4wd sc is the norm. I don;t think anybody even makes an open cell insert for these size wheels.
CC rear,open cell front is very common in 2wd buggy.

Compress the spring all the way, then back it off 3/4 turn. Use some blue threadlock to make sure it holds the setting too.
