The engine should spin the spur gear counter clockwise the way a t-maxx is setup. If the tranny grabs and the wheels turn when you spin the spur clockwise, then something is up in the tranny. Thats...

Sounds like the one way bearing could be installed backwards inside the tranny. Might take a look in there and see if it can be flipped around.
