Best bet is to get a 2wd buggy. Cheaper to run(tires). Best platform to learn to drive with. And its the one class in offroad that will never go away

That was the set up i used at Ripon. I ran the same times as the mod guys with these setting. only Brandon Clements with a 4.5 was able to get to a 13.8 on practice day. My best was 14.2 with a 17.5....
