Just picked up one of these today (SC4.18), and the kit is quite nice.

I rebuilt the shocks using 30 wt. oil and this thing handles pretty good. I have a Novak mongoose 10.5 system laying around...

It's a little bigger than the HPI but close enough to race each other. The Thunder Tiger ER4 G3, Kyosho DRX VE can also race with them. The main difference is the wheelbase and width which are close...

Before replacing the ESC try another battery; if the red light is blinking slow with a new battery send it back to Traxxas for a replacement unit.

In sport or race mode you can adjust you radio setting to change the feel of the ESC, I think is work great.

For real track racing you should defiantly switch to a more race friendly ESC, I like...

Like Scoot said the sooner the better, I am in NY and I am willing to invest the time to race at Blue Diamond this year and so on...


Also most guys race switch to other classes in the winter...
