You can either be a guinea pig, or spend $10 more on a proven sanwa.

If you don't want to buy a setup station, keep a spare axle with diff built. Slide it in to do circles, then put the spool back in. No need to set gear mesh. Just give it a light push.

No fan for 17.5. It will get very sluggish before it gets too hot. 13.5 is somewhat the same. Just a bit higher temp before the lap times start to fall off.

What motors? Mod is basically 500mAh per tooth so pay attention to dumping issues. Although on that size track dumping might not be a problem. HW 3.5 29/88, SMC two teeth lower.
