Default One-Way diffs in 2017

Hi!
Anyone out there still using one way diffs in touring cars?

I never liked the heavy-handed approach to driving that a spool needs, and the extra cornering speed that a one way gives is just great.
I remember a few years back, one ways were in fashion, all the fast guys were using them. What happened?

They were banned in a lot of places due to accidents (and the resulting damage) caused by the lack of brakes.

Really?? First I've heard of it. AFAIK they're still legal over here (UK). Don't the 1/8th nitro cars still run them?

So obviously not banned from elec TC for 'real' safety reasons then

It can get a bit tricky on track running against spool cars as you have take a very different line through corners, can make for some fun racing!

1/8 nitro cars run on much larger tracks. I think the Reedy Race of Champions was where the one-way ban was first enforced, and it was a reaction to a lot of collisions in a preceding indoor carpet race. Whether the move was justified or not, I'm not convinced.

It's common sense that one-way cars are a bit less forgiving and trickier to master (could explain why there were more crashes?), though the current Reedy Race & ROAR rules say nothing about Diff types.

I think they've just gone out of fashion as the 'current' style of TC driving seems to involve being very heavy handed with the throttle and steering and letting the chassis flex make up for the lack of finesse.

From the top of my head I can only remember USVTA having them actually outlawed. (But I don't claim to be familiar with US races and classes, so there may be more.)

I'm gonna try my luck at 17.5t blinky racing, the one way could be a real advantage with the lower power.
After seeing how fast the modern mod cars are when the boost kicks in on the straight, there's no way they can brake from that speed without a spool, even though it makes them a bit slower in the turns.
