gearing help
Hey all, got a gearing question for ya, I am racing a 2wd RC10 ds...I know that takes alot of u experianced drivers way back.. anyway I am racing indoors on carpet the track is said to have not bad but not high traction, it is not very big but is fairly tight, couple of S curves followed by 50 ft. straight...I would like better acceleration than anything... anyway I just bought a P2K, not pro, it is already broke in so we need not worry about that, I am wondering what type of pinnion gearing would be best. I am running 81 tooth 48 pitch spur, My lhs said just stick with my 25 t pinnion like I said I am aiming for acceleration more than any thing
I have tried to ask what other guy's are runing but the other DS'S in my class are running MVP's and the guy's who are running the P2K's are all running TC3's and Shu'ies any help is appriciated
thanx

Hey Racerb
if your are talking teeth number rather then ratios i would suggest this:
I ran a similar motor and used a 90t spur / 31t pinion.
It gave me relatively good acceleration and a fair bit of top end speed, without getting too hot.
It also depends on what type of track you are running on, length of straights surface etc.
hope this helps

The P2K makes its power lower in the rpm range than the MVP.
Try 1-2 teeth larger on the pinion than what the MVP boys are running in their (same) cars.
If you REALLY want a good motor, buy a Monster Stock. So much more power than either MVP or P2K.
