Glueing Tires
 

Watched tons of you tube vids.. But wanted clarification.. Do you pull back the tire and put the glue on the rim, and then do a second coat by jus pulling back the top of the tread?
Have seen it done that way, and other vids show just slightly pulling the tire back...

I get the tire situated on the rim and use rubber bands to hold the tire on the rim. I then put glue on the lower part of the inside rim and move slowly around the tire.

There's a thread on this already somewhere, but here's how I mount my tires.

Pull back bead, drop a little bit of CA, and then while counting to 10, SLOWLY let go of the bead while pulling an adjacent bead slightly for capillary action to work.

Most people let go of the bead too soon after dropping the CA and end up with a blob.

Then at the end, I would go around the entire bead with a light application of CA without pulling the bead. Hope this helps.

I came up with a jig to hold my wheel/tire while I glue them up.Made the process a lot easier for me.

just to add use caution while gluing if you wipe off excess with paper towel or cotton rag some of the glues react and get hot and smoke. The first set of tires I ever glued was for my son and I glued paper towel to my fingers wiping off excess glue. It started smoking and burned me pretty good. Its funny now but hut a lot then. Have fun be safe

Also, clean the tire bead with Simple Green before gluing. Works better than any solvent or degreaser and gives better adhesion.

It won't be possible to get a second coat of glue between the bead of the tire and the rim because the glue is going to bond really fast. The biggest thing I've found when gluing tires is to take your time. I glue a little part of the bead on one tire, then move to the next while the first is drying, then move to the third, etc until I have made it through all the tires that I am gluing and then come back to the first and do a little more and run back through the rest of them and repeat until all the tires are glued rather than gluing one tire completely then moving to the second tire and gluing it completely before moving to the third and so on. Its been working well. I also peel the tire back from the rim and then fit it back where it goes a few times before I start gluing so that I have a feel for how it is going to be when I do glue them.

If punching a vent hole in tires, how do people avoid getting water in? Or more importantly sauce?

I seen people install screws in holes before washing.

If you are saucing, vent the rim, not the tire.
