Track & Wheelbase Mod Question

Hi all, totally new to absolutely everything RC really, so please bear with me.

I've been designing a 1:10 car, and was looking for some suitable sized wheels for the model, then came across RC stuff, and becuase of course the scale is the same it would fit fine!

This lead to thinking well if I were to produce a full upper body mould, I could just mount it on an RC chassis, so would have the steering, suspension and of course drive.

The downside however if I'm concerned about dimensions, the wheelbase is 263mm, and the track width around 162mm (overall width ~188)

How easy would it be to find, or modify a rolling chassis to suit?
The components all bolt to a flat chassis usually am I right?
So wheelbase would be easy
the track width, longer track rods (yeah not ideal) and widen the wishbone mounting points? Or are these cheap off-the-shelf parts?

Have been looking on ebay at used cars, but have no real clue what would be a good base.

Thank you!

It sounds like you're within a few mm of wanting a 1/10th touring car as your base - those are 190mm wide and a typical wheelbase is in the 260ish-mm range. For a running scale model, which is what I assume you're after, here's one example of a possible starting platform: http://www.amainhobbies.com/rc-cars-...c30101/p227233

Hi henk,I think that MarkA is offering some really good advise. That car is a great starting point.I've done everything to mine except jumping up and down on it.Also, don't think for a minute that all parts are interchangeable. Some are, such as wheel/tires within similar cars, and keep in mind their are some counterfeit or copy cat car makers out there and who knows what well fit them. And by the way, keep in mind those words;Pre-built.
