JR radio's are great for the money. For around $100 you can get a new XR2i with all the goodies. It has an LCD screen, excellent tunability, 2 profiles, solid design, and is very stylish. I own the older version (The Spektrum looking one) and was very pleased with it's performance. The only complaint I have with it is the battery life. It chews through batteries like fat kids chew through cake. I just bought the new XR2i on the internet and it should be here Monday or Tuesday, so I can't wait! Hitec has some great radios for some great prices too. Airtronics are good but there is no reason you should need to buy an M8 or M11 for those reasons. The Novak XXL reciever is a great reciever with synthesised operation, and it's pretty tiny too. You shouldn't have any issues fitting that inside your Micro.

I have an Airtronics MX-3 fm system that I am very pleased with. I purchased it to replace the system that came with my RC18MT.
When you say controller how much of the system do you need. Do you need TX and RX or do you need it all ie. TX,RX,speed control, and servo?
If you need it all Airtronics has an AM system the MX-A that comes complete for around $120 usd.
