I use a small amount of shoe goo on my painted bodies. The weight is minimal. You could also just use it in areas that wear. I also use it when patching a body mount area with another piece of lexan.

Back in the day, there used to be only one Shoe Goo. The other night I was in a craft store, and now I see multiple types/variations of Shoe Goo to be had.

It works great for wing side dams but takes a while to dry

Pro tip
Dip your finger in water before touching the shoe goo. This keeps it from sticking to your finger, and it allows you to spread it around the body in a thinner layer.

I have to try the shoe goo and drywall tape... My son has been wheelie happy lately and has burned a hole on top of his new proline bulldog body already.

Loctite Crafter's Adhesive, non toxic and safe to use indoors. Works as good or better than SG, cheaper too. I use it on all my bodies, no problems at all on 1/8 buggies used for racing.

Try window screen instead of the drywall tape. Window screen has a tighter mesh and is a lot stronger than the drywall when embedded in Goo.

I never thought of that. I use screen to cover holes and windows in bodies for air vents, but now I have a new use.

I like to first lay down the sticky side of drywall tape in the corners or sections that usually crack then work the goop with my thumb into the drywall tape almost like doing fiberglass making sure to not lift up the tape when pulling away, but if you get a lot on there especially a short course it gets heavy fast.
