I am trying to get into 1/10th scale racing. I found a b4.1 would it be worth getting it if it is only 145 and all it needs is a charger ? i will be running novice to start then i will probably move to 17.5 blinky

That's a decent deal to get started. if you know that this is something you are going to get into, building a kit gives you a pretty good working knowledge on the car. Do you know if it's tha factory team version? If it's the RTR version, it isn't that good of a deal. Any modifications made?

That car is also 2 versions old so reselling it may be tough if it isn't in good condition. Knowing what electronics it comes with would also help. Do you know the seller?

I haven't seen it in person yet it is at a pawn shop. From my understanding it has everything i need less a charger so i assume that would mean it has a battery. As far as if it is the FT or the rtr idk.

Make sure you do your research and know what you are buying. A decent charger and a few batteries is going to run you around 200 dollars more.

Glad you asked Is there a particular budget that you are trying to stay under? I know I suggested a kit but the Serpent RTR(still needs battery) is a race ready kit. The issue is that there may not be parts support at your local track.

Have you been out to the track to visit yet? You should check what buggies they do have parts for.

They mostly carry team associated and losi parts. they also have durango and some other brands i haven't heard of. im also trying to make sure im running something that people can help me with setup if i need it. so im leaning towards the 22 2.0 or a team associated buggy. or possibly a sct from either of those two brands

The b5 or b5m or the 22 2.0 are both great kits, and you will have a blast putting them together. As far as budget electronics. The just stock is probably the esc of choice, and then any used 17.5 will work well (and can be had at ½ the price of new). for servos, I prefer savox, futaba, or hitec. as long as it has 125 oz in of torque and at least a .10 transit time.

If the only thing my first RC Racing car needed was a charger my bank account would be a lot happier! Enjoy

The new Losi SCT just came out. Either Losi or AE are solid choices.

that's a good choice. it's always easy to find parts for losi and plenty of people will be willing to help you out setting it up. There is a dedicated thread in the electric offroad forum for that chassis.
