Truggy

Looking into getting a truggy. Kinda stuck on a mugen or Losi.
Any info would be great,Thanks

Truggy is dead in my area, but I got to drive my buddy's Mugen once. Great truck. It seemed really nimble considering its size. Losi makes a great product, but if I was getting one it'd be a Mugen.

The Mugen is IMHO the better kit. Just make sure it is one of the new generation ones.

ok thanks guys.I will be using the Truggy for bashing. and messing around my local track.Just got tired of buying these MT and putting more money into them.

One thing to check into is the availability of parts in your area. Nothing is worse than breaking the vehicle only to have to wait a week for parts from AMain (or wherever). I would venture to say the TLR (Losi) vehicle is going to be more popular in most local shops, but see what is available in your area.

Good point Seth. Losi is pretty popular down were I live.

Arms are a very large percentage of breakages. Keep an extra set or two if you decide on one and parts aren't easy to come by.

+1 on Mugen....Losi would be a close second IMO

Tekno does make nitro 1:8 as well...

In any case I am in the camp that would suggest a trip to his closest hobby shop just to see what brands they readily support.

Beyond that my only other advice would be know what he is getting into tire wise. Truggy tires are not cheap and can wear down fast. They really do not make many options of all purpose basher tires for truggy either, some monster truck tires on 17mm hex could work though, but if they are bigger then he would need a gearing change. Just needs to be part of the personal equation.

It would be Electric. And just until last night i was looking at the tekno truggy kits.Hear nothing but great things about them. Most of my bashing would be at the local track(Clay).Messing around until I get the hang of things. My local Hobby shop carries most losi Parts in stock.

I only have good things to say about my tekno truggy. It is so beefy almost to the point of overkill but also its so nimble. Laps my local track as fast as my buggy all the while maintaining that gtf outa my way attitude.

HAHA thanks for the info Vegetable

If you LHS has Losi parts, I go in that direction. The Mugen would be a close second IMHO. The Tekno hasn't impressed me as much (rear diff case/chassis support) as the other 2.
