Motor/ESC combo for 1/10 Buggy

Im looking for a high speed Motor/ESC combo i read that the 10T and 8.5T are good for speed i just need to know a trusted brand and cheap.

Whats a good motor/esc combo?
What makes the buggy faster other than the battery, motor and esc?

You want Sensored if you are racing. hobby wing is about as cheap as you want to go, with still getting a good product.

I would add that you want to figure out what class you'll be racing in. 10.5 and 8.5 are too fast for stock (17.5) and too slow for mod (well, depending, but 6.5 seems common around here). So, go to your local track and figure out what you want to race.

As a side note, running novice with a 2WD 8.5 buggy is... pretty nuts.

Those SMC motors are tempting if you have want bang for the buck..

I have a trackstar 9.5t and 120a "turbo" esc set up in my B44.2. So far so good.

esc : hobbyking x-car 120 a (its a hobbywing rebrand only cheaper) 34 bucks i think. get the program box also.

motor : turnigy trackstar whatever turn you want. 30 bucks or something.

its a cheap and awesome setup

I hate to be a killjoy but trying to run 2w Mod buggy on anything less than the smoothest, and I mean, yes, paying double for something only a little smoother even, equipment will just end in frustration.

I would highly recommend seeing if your track has a 17.5/stock class and aiming for that with this HW ESC paired to the 17.5 motor of your choice if budget is going to be concern.

I heard that those escs were not actually rebrands, but a hobby wing designer that left hobby wing, and started producing escs with hobbywking.
