Default Which side of the SC tire is the 2.2" side?

The opening visually looks the same on both sides. (Badlands)
Do they even sell tires with uniform openings? The package says 2.2"

I end up with this and it doesn't look quite right to me

The side with the larger sidewall is the 2.2" side and thus the outside of the tire. Make sure you bought tires labeled for a SC which will usually say something like 2.2/3.0". From the pics your outside looks ok but make sure the foam is set seated evenly to avoid the bulge you appear to have on the inside.

I'm pretty sure I bought 2.2" tires (114400). didn't know there was a difference. Does anyone know the application for these 2.2" tires

That would explain the bulge. Those are stadium truck, not SC tires.

You should be able to tell the difference very easily.

there's a big issue in this hobby with product labeling. I don't know why products are always labeled in what seems like secrete military like talk but it could be a lot better for everyone if they would just use simple labels.

putting 2.2 on the label doesn't mean anything if someone doesn't know everything there is to know about cars/buggies/trucks etc.

Really agree. When you look at the product listing for these tires at Amain even, it only says "truck." Someone new to the hobby who just bought a short course truck isn't going to know that means "stadium" truck, especially because the outer sidewall looks the same.

It's frustrating but it is all part of the learning process I guess. I even knew my wheels were 2.2/3.0 but I saw the 2.2 and assumed they were the same.

You can mod the tires (cut) to fit on the sct wheels. It wont be as good if you had sct wheels from the beginning, but you wont have to buy new tires and wheels.
